Frequently Asked Questions FAQs

  • HOW LONG DOES FILLFOAM™ TAKE TO HARDEN?

FillFoam™ can begin to harden in just a few minutes. The moisture in the surrounding environment and the temperature will impact how long it will take FillFoam™ to solidify.

  • IS FILLFOAM™ A POLYURETHANE FOAM?

FillFoam™ is not a polyurethane foam material created by a water or a gas-blown chemical reaction. FillFoam™ is a dual component material that is air-blown.

  • FILLFOAM™ HAS A COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF 18-50 PSI. DO WE NEED TO ORDER DENSER FOAM TO GET FROM 18 TO 50 PSI?

The same material can achieve a wide range of densities. FillFoam™ equipment settings will control the output of the density.

  • HOW MANY POUNDS PER CUBIC YARD?

Pounds per cubic yard are based on the density of the material you are installing. A drum set of FillFoam™ will yield a volume of three to twelve cubic yards. This results in 75-300 lbs per cubic yard.

  • WHY SHOULD WE CONSIDER FILLFOAM™ OVER PLURAL COMPONENT POLYURETHANE?

There is no heat created during FillFoam™ installation. FillFoam™ is safer for high volume applications where heat would be a concern for polyurethane. FillFoam™ does not replace polyurethane for concrete lifting but is much more efficient for void filling applications. For applications where material needs to be pumped long distances, FillFoam™ can flow as far as 500 ft based on the product's density. Polyurethane foam's ability to flow is limited by its reaction time. It is all a matter of using the right product for the specific project's needs. A project could require polyurethane foam, FillFoam™ or both.

  • DOES FILLFOAM™ EXPAND?

FillFoam™ is pumped and installed pre-expanded. Once FillFoam™ is installed, it is completely inert.

  • IS FILLFOAM™ OPEN CELL?

Yes, FillFoam™ is an open cell product. FillFoam™ is highly sophisticated and comparable to an engineered soil replacement. Being open-celled, FillFoam™ can absorb water or allow water to pass through it without changing shape or becoming overburdened. If you need to block water or seal a project, FillFoam™ can be used with closed-cell polyurethane foam for the perfect solution.

  • HOW MUCH DOES THE COMPRESSIVE STRENGTH OF FILLFOAM™ CHANGE WHEN SATURATED WITH WATER?

The strength and shape of FillFoam™ do not change when it is saturated with water. The weight per cubic foot of FillFoam™ increases with the absorbed water, but the water can be pulled easily from the adjacent soils or plants as needed. Another interesting fact about FillFoam™ is that it will never saturate 100%. 30% will always remain air and cannot be saturated. This allows FillFoam™ to stay buoyant.
